Managing and improving your financial health is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Almost every part of your life will one way or another depend on how financially stable you are or aren’t. Here are 5 key decisions to help you improve your
1. Save at least 20% of your gross income. Make sure you always pay yourself first before paying your mortgage, car payment…etc. Save at least 20% of your gross income. If you cannot do this, then you might need to reduce your expenses or find a way to increase your expenses.
2. Don’t be afraid to burn it down and start over. Sometimes it’s better to start a new career than to try and fix a struggling one. We all struggle with it, we try to save our sunk costs. But the time you try to use to revive and save a struggling career can be used to begin and explode on an exciting new one.
3. Life is a grind. One of my favorite quotes is “When you do easy things, life becomes hard, When you do hard things, life becomes easy” All successful people have being miserable at one point or the other. Attaining success is never easy, but it’s worth it. It comes with a lot of pain, struggle, long hours, stress, sleepless nights etc. You have to embrace the pain. You have to run to the grind.
4. Surround yourself with the best people. You are only as good as the people around you. Walk away from naysayers. Naysayers are everywhere and they come with good intentions and dressed in nice clothes. Always examine your sphere of influence and make sure you are surrounded with right minded individuals.
5. Don’t be a jack of all trades. Have focus. Focus is the key to achieving great things in life. “Success is built sequentially, not simultaneously”. Having specific goals and focusing on achieving them one thing at a time will produce high dividends.
